Well-Being: An Overview
At the core of one’s life is the desire to be well or the concept of ‘well-being.’ That is, from within you decide to be happy and satisfied with all aspects of life. Well-being is an inside-out perspective of living your great life.

The expression of well-being is found in the expansive words you use to describe and explain your feelings and action like:

* I’m feeling wonderful

* I’m prosperous

* I’m doing what I love to do

* I’m abundant

* What ‘I am’ statement do you use?

From Me to You:

As a way to envelope my ideas about well-being, I share the original list of 9+1 Actions for Living YOUR Great Life I've used to sustain my well-being. I hope one or more stimulate your thinking and feeling.

1. Seek ‘something’ greater than yourself .,.,. tap into your spirituality in whatever way you know and express it.

2. Know yourself in challenge and celebration .,.,. there are times of celebration as there are times of challenge; who are you in each one and together.

3. Be the best for the world  .,.,. a choice is available: to be the best in the world or the best for the world – what say you?

4. Test your thoughts .,.,. not all thoughts are created equal. Some hold you back while others expand you. Reflect on your thoughts and live the ones that have the most meaning for you.

5. Balance your emotions .,.,. feelings are wonderful indicators of a direction you’ve chosen to take. It’s when you engage in motion when your emotions highjack your thinking – then you lose consciousness.

6. Value your truth, worth and service .,.,. share your truth in all ways, be clear on what is of worth to you, and be of service in how you do what you do.

7. Share your hierarchy of values .,.,. you think, feel and act according to a hierarchy of things significant in your life. Know that hierarchy and share it with those you love.

8. Commit to being well .,.,. promise to yourself you will do whatever it takes to establish and sustain a personal platform of being well, and whenever possible, challenge yourself to improve everyday.

9. Deal with fear and guilt quickly and wisely .,.,. fear and guilt are future and past misperceptions of pain over pleasure that you’ve invented. Know this, move past fear and guilt with ease and grace.

+1.  Light YOUR path of shared learning .,.,. learning is your common connection with others. Become aware of the path of learning you share and shine a light on this path for yourself and with others.

Rewritten:

* I am something greater than myself

* I am challenge and celebration

* I am the best for the world

* I am testing my thoughts in every moment

* I am balancing my emotions

* I am truth, worth and service

* I am aware of my hierarchy of values

* I am committed to being well

* I am dealing with fear and guilt quickly and wisely

* I am the light of my path of shared learning

Facilitation: An Overview

In business and as in life, the act of facilitating is an important skill to learn.

To facilitate is to help any process go well.,.,. that is, to draw out from the person/people blue-sky ideas for decision making

*  Facilitator draws responses from participant(s) in a setting conducive to participants’ need for learning

* Facilitator oversees the process for participant(s) to learn what participants need to do

* Facilitator has a vested interest in helping the participant(s) to get to a place of decision-making for action

Often heard statement from participants involved in facilitating: “I do not know that I do not know.”

Therefore, when facilitating you bring to the foreground what people may already know and have not expressed, or stimulate new ideas for further consideration

* Facilitating is helpful in starting a new project at work.

* Facilitating is helpful in planning the family vacation.

* Facilitating is helpful in figuring out the better diet plan for a person.

And Facilitation is helpful in guiding a group in deciding which charity to give their Saturday volunteer time.

When facilitating here are three must know/must do requirements:

1. Be Comfortable with Silence – Learn to walk a fine line between meeting the client’s objectives and allowing the group to go where they need to go. If there is silence in the room – respect that – don’t try to fill it in with unwanted or unnecessary information.  If the silence becomes uncomfortable for the group or prolonged – you can provide a “process check” to determine the cause or perceived change of energy in the space and ask for individual feedback.

2. Be intuitive: Let your “gut reactions” or “sixth sense” be your guide.  Be able to read what’s not visible, as well as what’s visible in the group. You may need to do “process checks” to validate these intuitive sensations.  Be prepared to be flexible with where you are going and how to get there.

3. Wait through the silence when a question is asked … wait until one of two things occur … a person asks for clarification or an attempt is made to answer your question.

18 additional requirements are found here.

* In February, we're launching the eBook Help Them Help YOU Manage/Lead. The eBook describes and explains the 9 educating approaches helpful to manage and lead others. It’s helpful to learn which educating approach is most helpful when dealing with a person and/or a group to engage motion. Then, beyond work, whether you consider yourself a manager-leader or not, where you desire to involve people in the decision making process, for example- with family, when recreating, when volunteering – then facilitate their involvement!

In March 2012, we’re conducting a 4-week webinar program on the subject of Facilitating .,.,. more details in the next issue of WELLth NEWSights – in your inbox January 24th, 2012.
